13-year-old student remanded for allegedly defiling 6-year-old girl in Lagos
A 13-year-old kid has been placed under arrest at the Borstal Correctional Centre in Lagos after he is accused of defiling the 6-year-old daughter of his neighbour.
The young man, a student, was charged with defilement before the Ikeja Chief Magistrates' Court in Lagos. He resides at 96, Oshodi Road, Oshodi, Lagos, with his parents.
The act was carried out in the defendant's home in January 2024, according to the prosecution's attorney, ASP Raji Akeem, who testified in court.
According to Akeem, the child violated the six-year-old girl who lived next door by luring her into his room when their parents were away.
The prosecutor claimed that the offence violated section 210 of the Lagos State Criminal Law of 2015.
Mrs. Bola Osunsanmi, the Chief Magistrate, turned down the minor's appeal.
In order to receive legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), she commanded that he be kept in the Borstal Correctional centre until April 17.
