14-year-old boy commits suicide after being sent out of school
A 14-year-old child committed suicide after being expelled from school for not paying his tuition.
Dickson Mwenda, a student at Kiriari Primary School in Kigumo Village and a candidate for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exam this year, reportedly returned home from school to find his mother caring for his other siblings, according to an investigation that was carried out by the police in Embu county, Kenya.
The neighbourhood chief, Nelson Muturi, asserted that he entered the room after explaining to his mother why he was coming home early. After taking care of his siblings, Mwenda's mother called for him to leave so they could all go back to school together. He didn't respond.
Her son's body was hanging from the house's roof as she entered the room. The woman then sounded an alarm, drawing the neighbours' attention.
The youngster was characterized as being obedient by one Reverend Robert Nyaga, one of the villagers who reacted to the woman's alarm cries, and he added that the occurrence was unfortunate.
The boy's body was sent to the mortuary at Embu Level 5 Hospital as police investigations were ongoing.
