16 people feared dead in Benue attack
On Thursday, gunmen in the Gwer East Local Government Area of Benue State attacked several towns, killing sixteen people. The attackers are thought to be bandits.
This occurs just 24 hours after competing militia groups terrorised the Gbagir community in the state's Ukum LG, killing at least 40 people.
A source claims that the bandits launched a killing spree on Thursday, when they ransacked around 11 settlements in their most recent raid.
According to sources, the state's security leaders and deputy governor, Sam Ode, have conducted an on-the-spot inspection of the area.
