20 suspects arrested in Lagos
Twenty alleged criminals terrorising the state's Oshodi neighbourhood were taken into custody by Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, or KAI, officials on Tuesday.
In a succinct statement posted on his X.com profile on Tuesday, Tokunbo Wahab, the state commissioner for environment and water resources, revealed this.
He claims that during a patrol early on Tuesday, the alleged criminals were taken into custody.
He said, “Twenty miscreants arrested by the operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps at Oshodi during early morning patrol.”
According to PUNCH Metro article last Wednesday, state task force officials announced that they would bring charges against the 28 criminals they detained for intimidating and coercing drivers in various regions of the state.
In a statement, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, the agency's Director of Press and Public Affairs, said that the criminals were constantly extorting drivers whose cars broke down on the highway in the name of collecting "owo omotaku," or "breakdown money."
He claimed that the miscreants were apprehended during a raid on locations like Mile 2, Alaba Rago, FESTAC, Apapa, and the surrounding environs.
