2023 PRESIDENCY: SME group in Nassarawa proclaims support for Peter Obi
Stakeholders in Nasarawa State's Small and Medium-sized Enterprises have endorsed Peter Obi, the Labour Party's candidate for president, ahead of the general election of 2023.
The National Convener of the organization, Itsabemho Nereus, said they chose to support the former governor of Anambra State because of his leadership abilities while speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the State Executives of the Coalition of North and South SME owners for Obi on Friday in Lafia.
In order to save the country from complete collapse, he argued that Nigeria needed a leader who could transform the nation in 2023. He made an appeal for more support from the electorate to vote for Obi in the upcoming election.
Nereus claimed that the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party had deceived Nigerians into believing they were bringing about a great change when, in reality, they had placed the populace in precarious circumstances.
He urged the newly appointed executives of the organisation to unite for more support across the state's 13 Local Government Areas while asking them to stay out of trouble and uphold the law as they performed their duties.
He said, “Nigeria is in need of a leader who can take us out of the challenges confronting us at the moment. The APC and the PDP have failed us, so in 2023, we are supporting the Labour Party because of Mr. Peter Obi.
“We believe in his leadership qualities because he was able to transform Anambra State when he was a Governor. So, we are appealing to more small business owners in the state and Nigeria at large to join us in this struggle to rescue our nation from total collapse.â€
Alexander Emmanuel, the state's chairman of the labour party, praised the group's efforts to ensure Obi's win in 2023 and assured them that their work would not go in vain.
