2,168 repentant Boko Haram members graduate from DRR in Gombe
2,168 Boko Haram members who have repented have successfully graduated from the De-radicalization, Rehabilitation, and Reintegration (DRR) Programme of the Federal Government in Gombe State.
During a courtesy visit with Usman Kadafur, the deputy governor of Borno, Col. Abiodun Johnson, the commandant of the DRR Camp, Operation Safe Corridor, made the news.
According to Johnson, the repentant persons went through a thorough process that included medical examination, counselling for psychological and spiritual issues, sports treatment, counselling for drug misuse, and Western education programmes.
He went on to say that during the course of the six months, the former members of Boko Haram had instruction in vocational skills like carpentry, knitting caps, shoemaking, tailoring, and electrification. Apart from that, they had to work as forced labourers in the camp, cultivating.
The commandant described the various stages of the DRR programme, including data collection, biometrics, intelligence profiling, National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) profiling, initial medical tests, and paperwork.
