27-year-old man arraigned for defiling 9-month-old baby in Lagos
Adebayo Agboola, a 27-year-old street person, has been charged in Lagos at Ikeja Chief Magistrates' Court for allegedly defiling neighbour's nine-month-old child.
Agboola, a resident of the Ijora-Bada (shanti) neighbourhood of Lagos, is accused of defiling.
According to the Prosecution Counsel, DSP Kehinde Ajayi, he defiled the toddler when the baby's 16-year-old mother left her child in his care to buy noodles not far from her home.
According to what he said in court, the crime was perpetrated on March 23 in the White Sand neighbourhood of Ijora-Bada, Lagos.
According to the prosecution, the crime violated Section 137 of the Lagos State Criminal Code from 2015.
According to the clause, anyone found guilty of engaging in unlawful sexual activity with a kid faces a life sentence in jail.
The prosecutor was given the go-ahead by Chief Magistrate Mrs. E. Kubeinje to transfer the case file to the State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal counsel.
She ordered the accused to remain in custody at Kirikiri jail and postponed the hearing until May 5.
