27-year-old man dies in Ogun fire incident

Tolu Falansa, 27, was discovered dead in his flat after a fire broke out in the Owode-Yewa neighbourhood in the Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State around midnight.

The event happened at around 5:00 am on July 28, 2024, according to a police source who was familiar with the details but asked to remain anonymous because they lacked the right to speak for the command.

Falansa, who supposedly kept his motorbike in his sleeping quarters, was discovered dead next to the vehicle in a smoke-filled chamber.

A local, only identified as Kafaya, informed the authorities that they were unaware of the occurrence until several individuals showed they're looking for the deceased.

“We didn’t think something of that nature had happened until two boys came to look for Falansa. I pointed his apartment to them when they asked where he was,” Kafaya said.

The body has been brought to the Ilaro mortuary, according to Odutola Omolola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, who confirmed the incident to PUNCH Metro on Sunday.
