36 Nigerian soldiers die in Niger terrorists ambush
36 officers died in Niger State, according to confirmation from the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) on Thursday.
Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, acknowledged the fatalities while providing an update on the August 14, 2023, troop ambush in Niger State and the evacuation chopper crash.
The breakdown was presented at the Defence Media Operations' biweekly briefing.
He reiterated that the cause of the helicopter crash is still under investigation when questioned about it.
He asked people to remain patriotic and to be careful of terrorist propaganda.
A military convoy was reportedly assaulted by terrorists on Monday.
Between Zangiwa and Kangara in the state, the incident happened at five in the morning.
