An inquiry into the unexpected death of a sixty-year-old man who allegedly experienced a medical emergency at a hotel in Dutse, the state capital, has been initiated by the Jigawa State Police Command.

The deceased, who had booked into the hotel with a 20-year-old woman, apparently experienced breathing issues shortly after asking for a meal. The event happened on Tuesday at around 12:50 p.m., according to the police.

Officers from the Yalwawa Police Division quickly responded to a distress call and took the man to the General Hospital, Dutse, according to a statement released by Police Public Relations Officer SP Lawan Shiisu Adam.

He claimed that after examining the body, hospital staff declared him dead.

“The police immediately secured the scene and carried out a preliminary investigation. During the exercise, detectives recovered some food items, beverages, a suspected sexual enhancement substance, and other personal belongings for forensic examination as part of the ongoing investigation,” the statement said.

According to the police spokesperson, all required steps were taken to protect the exhibits and guarantee a comprehensive investigation into the death's circumstances.

The 20-year-old lady who was with the dead at the time of the occurrence is assisting detectives by giving information that could help determine the order in which the man's death occurred, the police also revealed.

Residents in Jigawa State were reassured by the Commissioner of Police that the inquiry will be carried out impartially, fully, and professionally.
