74-year-old Nebraska woman pronounced dead is found alive at funeral home
Local law enforcement reports that a woman who was declared dead at a nursing home in Nebraska was discovered to be alive on Monday after being brought to a neighbouring funeral parlour.
The Mulberry at Waverly nursing home in Waverly, Nebraska, announced the death of a 74-year-old resident at 9:44 a.m. local time on Monday. The deceased was then taken to the Butherus-Maser & Love Funeral Home in Lincoln.
However, upon arriving in Lincoln, which is around 15 miles away, a staff member who was prepping her body observed that she was still breathing, as stated by the Lancaster County Sheriff's office.
At 11:43 a.m., Lincoln Fire and Rescue responded to a 911 call, taking the patient to a hospital. She is still alive as of Monday afternoon, according to representatives of the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office.
The woman had been seen by a physician, who signed her death certificate on Monday, and was in hospice care before she was pronounced deceased.
