Abducted Anambra commissioner, wife regain freedom
After being held captive for a day, Patrick Mba, the Anambra State Commissioner for Youth Development, and his spouse were let free.
The information was revealed to our correspondent on Saturday night by a dependable top government official who requested to remain anonymous. The official further stated that the commissioner and his spouse were allowed to return to their freedom on Saturday.
“The kidnapped Commissioner of Youth Development and his wife have been released today. To God be the glory. The state government will soon issue a statement on that,” the source added.
While travelling to Abuja on Friday to attend the Saturday wedding of Adaora, the daughter of state governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, some gunmen abducted the commissioner and his wife at an unidentified spot along the Edo-Kogi Motorway.
They were reportedly travelling with other passengers in a commercial Toyota Sienna bus.
There were rumours that one of the commissioner's assistants, who was travelling with him, was murdered in the process. Regarding the development, the state government has not yet released an official statement.
