Abducted Edo PDP chairman freed after 11 days in captivity

Dr. Tony Azegbemi, the chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, was freed from captors after eleven days.

Aziegbemi reportedly arrived at his home at around three in the morning. Senator Odion Ugbesia announced his release at approximately 6:17 a.m., but it was unclear if the ransom had been paid before he was freed.

Remember that on March 16, 2024, a group of armed men abducted Aziegbemi from his home a short distance from the Government Reservation Area in Benin City, the capital of Edo state.

At approximately 11 p.m. on Friday, his kidnappers, who were reported to be driving two Toyota Corollas, are believed to have followed him and overtaken his jeep along Odaro Street off Country Home Road near his home.
