Abiodun Oyebanji becomes new Ekiti state governor
The governor of Ekiti State, Abiodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has taken the oath of office.
On Sunday at 12:53 pm, Oyebanji took the oath of office in the state's government building.
Justice Oyewole Adeyeye, the State Chief Judge, administered the oath of office to the previous Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, as well as Rotimi Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo State, and Simon Lalong, the governor of Plateau State, are among the dignitaries in attendance.
Others include the governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Godwin Obaseki, Abubakar Badaru, of Jigawa, and Dapo Abiodun of Ogun.
After receiving 187,057 votes, Oyebanji was proclaimed the victor of the Ekiti State governorship election.
He defeated his two closest challengers — Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) who polled 82,211 votes, and Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who got 67,457 votes.
