Accident on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway leaves three dead

A Sino truck and a Toyota sedan were involved in an accident on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Saturday that left no less than three people dead and two more with various degrees of injuries.

The event was reported to newsmen in Abeokuta on Sunday by Mrs. Florence Okpe, the Public Education Officer for the Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun.

According to Okpe, the collision on May 6 at 6:25 p.m. included a Sino truck with the license plate FZE 840 G and a Toyota automobile with the license plate KSF122 FB.

The FRSC official claimed that speeding was to blame for the collision, which resulted in the Toyota vehicle driver losing control and ramming the moving truck from behind.

“A total of five people were involved which comprised four men and one woman; two people were injured while three deaths were recorded,” she said.

According to Okpe, the deceased were deposited in the FOS Morgue, Ipara in the Remo North local government area of Ogun, while the injured were transferred to Victory Hospital, Ogere for medical assistance.

Ahmed Umar, the FRSC's State Sector Commander, expressed his sympathy to the victims' families in the meantime.

Umar emphasized the risks of speeding, particularly during the rainy season when visibility is reduced, and advised drivers to drive defensively and follow all traffic laws.
