Adamu Adamu says ASSU will not be compensated for the six months without academic activity
Adamu Adamu, the minister of education, stated on Thursday that the Academic Staff Union of Universities, not the Federal Government, is in charge of compensating students for the time lost during the six-month strike.
Additionally, he stated that the government would not agree to the union's demand that lecturers be paid for the six months they were not engaged in academic activity.
Adamu advised the impacted students to "take ASUU to court" in order to seek compensation for losses experienced during the strike.
The Minister of Education made this statement at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja at the 47th State House Ministerial Briefing, which was organized by the Presidential Communications Team.
He maintains that the federal government is not responsible for paying millions of students who were suspended for six months for wasted time.
He added that the students should sue ASUU if they are determined to receive compensation.
