Adeboye critizes FG over naira redesign
Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, has criticised the Federal Government's choice to redesign the naira.
Adeboye made this statement on Friday night during the church's November Holy Ghost Service, which had the theme "Let It Rain."
The elderly man lamented the naira's declining purchasing value in his sermon.
He wondered why the FG plan to redesign the naira at a time when many people are in need of food and money.
He said, “Do you know what is going on in our country? It doesn’t make sense anymore. Our Naira now, is not even worth the paper it is printed on.
“And while people are hungry, trying to find enough money to buy bread to eat, our bosses are thinking of making the Naira more beautiful.â€
The N200, N500, and N1,000 banknotes will be redesigned, the Central Bank of Nigeria said in late October.
The new notes will go into circulation on December 15, 2022, according to the apex bank, while the current Naira notes would continue to be valid until January 2023.
