Political officials and traditional leaders rushed to Ile-Ife to join His Imperial Majesty in celebrating Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi's golden jubilee, which he celebrated in a spectacular manner.
Governor Ademola Adeleke presided over the cake-cutting ceremony in honour of the monarch, while former Lagos State Governor and Minister of Works Babatunde Fashola, SAN, commissioned an Ojaja movie theatre within the Ojaja Arena as part of the birthday celebrations.
Fashola, who spoke earlier at the palace, called Ooni a pride of the Yoruba race and said that his efforts to bring Oduduwa descendants together worldwide are unprecedented.
His words, “Kabiyesi within nine years of your ascension to the great Oduduwa throne has brought glory to the race. Your pursuit of unity among Oduduwa descendants across the world.
“We your subjects are proud of you, we love and appreciate your dedication to preserving Yoruba cultural heritage. Kabiyesi, we love you”.
Governor Ademola Adeleke characterised Ooni Ogunwusi as a peace-loving monarch with an unmatched zeal for Nigeria's development and the welfare of young people in his remarks at the birthday celebration's grand finale.
