Again, gunmen attack another police station in Anambra
The Awada Police Station, located close to Obosi in the Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, has once more been attacked by many gunmen.
According to reports, the thugs broke into the police station around 2:18 am on Monday and started fighting with the officers on duty. Three of the thugs are reportedly dead as a result of the shooting.
The attack on the 3-3 Police Divisional Office in Oyi LGA, which left roughly six persons dead, occurred less than 24 hours ago.
A local source claimed that the thugs opened fire intermittently as they approached the police station and that the gunfire continued for several hours.
The source said, “Again, in the early hours of today, these hoodlums made another deadly attempt to burn down Awada Police Station, near Obosi, Anambra State.
“The hoodlums were repelled by gallant security personnel with three members of the gang taken down after a hot exchange of gun battle.â€
He continued by saying that the trucks the gang utilized for the operation were also where two AK-47s were found.
While it was still unclear if any police officers had died, the specifics of the casualties were still vague.
Another local source, however, claimed that two police officers, including the Divisional Police Officer, were also harmed.
DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police spokesperson, did not answer calls or texts left on his phone, thus he could not be reached for comment.
