Air Peace halts flights to Enugu airport

All scheduled flights to Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu, Enugu State, have been suspended, according to Air Peace.

The airline ascribed the development to what it called the ongoing safety concerns brought on by the airport's failing infrastructure.

The airline expressed dissatisfaction over the runway at the airport, claiming that it has been seriously disrupting its flights.  requiring that additional flights into the airport be halted until further notice.

Air Peace announced this in a statement early on Saturday.  The airline bemoaned the fact that the runway situation at Enugu airport was out of control and urged the authorities to intervene immediately.

“At Air Peace, we prioritise safety first over convenience. We believe that if flights are not operated into this aerodrome for the next few days, it will allow the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria the opportunity to perform the necessary repairs on the runway,” the airline stated.

All scheduled flights into and out of Enugu will now depart from Asaba, Delta State, according to Air Peace.

“Please be informed that all flights scheduled into and out of Enugu will now be operated into and out of Asaba.

“We regret any inconvenience this change may have caused,” the airline added.
