Akwa Ibom Governor, Umo Eno announces N80,000 minimum wage for workers

A new minimum pay of N80,000 has been announced by Governor Umo Eno for Akwa Ibom State government employees.

The Governor has formed an Implementation Committee with a one-month deadline to decide how the increased salary would be implemented in order to guarantee the wage increase's seamless execution.

In addition to the State Chairman of the Joint Public Service Negotiating Council and the State Chairmen of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress, and Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, the committee is chaired by the State's Head of Civil Service.

In a statement released on Wednesday, State Commissioner for Information Ini Ememobong confirmed the development and called it “a reflection of the state government’s commitment to improving the welfare of its workforce.”
