Anambra woman hit by stray bullet to be buried Thursday
Mrs. Ifeoma Amarachukwu Ochiagha, an Anambra State native, will be buried this Thursday.
She was one of the victims of the gunmen's attack in Nnobi last Monday. Amarachukwu was struck by a stray bullet last Monday during a standoff between vigilantes and gunmen at Nnobi Junction.
According to information obtained by DAILY POST, the commander of the vigilante group in Nnewi led his men to confront a group of armed individuals who were believed to be entering the town through the Nnobi neighbourhood.
Unfortunately, Amarachukwu and a few other people who were struck by stray bullets were killed in the crossfire, along with the commander, Mr. Eloka Ubajekwe.
The Saturday before the event, Amarachukwu had celebrated her marriage ceremony and was looking forward to a happy married life when her life was sadly cut short.
She was only 22 years old when she passed away, according to a funeral ad that her family posted and that her father, Mr. Timothy Ochiagha, signed.
A post by one of her relatives read: “One of the victims of the Nnobi/Nnewi Monday sit-at-home mayhem will be buried on Thursday.
“Amarachukwu, who got married on Saturday, met her sudden death (unknown gunmen) the next Monday.
“May your gentle soul rest in peace, Nwadiana,” the relative wrote.
There were rumours that the gunmen, who were thought to be separatist forces, were trying to impose the South East's already-repeated Monday sit-at-home protest.
