Another container falls in Lagos

A 40-foot truck carrying a load of containers has toppled on the road near Dopemu in Lagos state. In a tweet on Monday, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) verified the occurrence.

The container is "occupying 90% of the road," according to the agency, which posted a brief video of the truck on its side.

“A 40ft container laden truck fell at Sawmill inward Dopemu under the bridge,” the tweet reads.

“It’s occupying 90 percent of the road. Our men are on ground doing the needful as Effort is on for recovery.”

Two children were among the victims, according to Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, permanent secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

Nine other persons were hurt and received medical attention in a hospital.

Accidents on the bridge have in the past involved various containers.

Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos, promised to build barricades on the bridge to impede the flow of articulated vehicles in response to the most recent accident.
