Apapa advises Obi to withdraw petition against Tinubu

Peter Obi, the party's presidential candidate, has been encouraged to drop his petition from the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal by the Lamidi Apapa branch of the Labour Party (LP), alleging his lack of sincerity.

After a recent occurrence in which the court adjourned the hearing of Obi and the Labour Party's case against the election of President Bola Tinubu, the faction made its choice.

Abayomi Arabambi, the party's factional national publicity secretary, stressed during a press conference in Abuja yesterday that Obi had not provided any significant proof to back up his accusations since the tribunal's inception.

Arabambi pointed out that Obi filed a lawsuit because his goals were different from those of the Nigerian people as a whole, who voluntarily backed the Labour Party.

“We have been closely following the regrettable developments and the approach taken by Peter Obi’s legal team in challenging the outcome of the February 25 presidential election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“Like many Nigerians, we have concluded that Obi is not only deceiving the Nigerian people but also squandering the hard-earned resources donated by Nigerians for this purpose, further enriching himself,” Arabambi stated.

He emphasized that Obi needed to stop deceiving Nigerians into thinking he has something to gain from the outcome of this procedure by deceitfully seeking money from them to finance the legal proceedings.

Arabambi reminded those in attendance of the courtroom confrontation with another group, during which INEC declared that Obi was unable to pay for several crucial election-related paperwork. As a result, Obi was only able to provide 30% of the Election Petition Tribunal's requested materials.

Given that not all of the required documents would be recognized or certified by other political parties, Arabambi questioned the wisdom of going to the electoral tribunal with only 35% of them.

Arabambi claimed that the court's proceedings had validated the complaints of the Apapa side and supported their position.
