APC POLITICS: Tinubu congratulates Ekiti's outgoing state governor, Kayode Fayemi, on the party's victory in the governorship election
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate Bola Tinubu has congratulated outgoing Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi on the party's victory in the state's just-concluded gubernatorial election.
Tinubu said Fayemi's leadership style allowed the APC to retain power in Ekiti State.
APC's gubernatorial candidate, Abiodun Oyebanji, was declared the winner of the gubernatorial election after receiving the most votes.
Oyebanji received 187,057 votes to defeat his runner-up, Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party SDP, who received 82,211 votes.
However, Tinubu urged the people of the state to continue to maintain their trust in APC.
In a statement from his media office, Tinubu said: "I must commend the now-outgoing Governor Kayode Fayemi and his team, whose progressive leadership in Ekiti has enabled APC to retain the government for the next four years. I am confident that the governor will finish well and strong.
"While I once again thank the people of Ekiti for standing with APC, I urge them, and indeed Nigerians at large, to continue to uphold their faith and trust in our party."
The former governor of Lagos also congratulated Oyebanji on his election victory
“I congratulate our Governor-elect Abiodun Oyebanji and his Deputy Mrs. Monisade Afuye on their great success in the election.
"This victory is our victory as members of the APC," he said.
