At least 21 killed in Nigeria's electoral violence – EU Observer says
The European Union reports that no fewer than 21 people have died as a result of electoral violence while the results of the gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections are being tallied nationwide.
This was revealed on Monday by the EU's chief observer, Mr. Barry Andrews, who was briefing journalists in Abuja, the nation's capital, on their findings.
The fundamental reason for the widespread voter apathy, according to Barry, is that voters' expectations during the presidential race were not satisfied.
The EU Observer also mentioned that reports of vote buying existed in several regions of the nation.
He added that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) performed better in the administration of the elections thanks to the deployment and use of technology. He also praised INEC for an improvement in its logistics plans.
