Bandits abduct NURTW chairman in Kaduna
In Kidandan village, located in the Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State, bandits have kidnapped the Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW). In addition, three of a health worker's children were taken by the bandits when they raided the community on Saturday night around 9:30 p.m. According to information obtained by Daily Trust, the robbers recently released Tasiu Habibu, the chairman of the NURTW, after holding him for roughly sixty days. Habibu was liberated following the payment of a ransom. According to town resident Sanusi Kidandan, who attested to the incident, the majority of the people were unable to sleep because of gunshots.“The father of the three children is a neighbour of the chairman. But they only took the children, all minors, including the chairman, making four people in total. The abductors shot sporadically during the invasion. They came around 9:30 PM,” he said.He claims that after being shot by the bandits, one villager, Idris Jibril, was taken to a neighbouring hospital to receive medical attention.Neither the police nor the state administration have released an official comment.
