Bandits demand N30m ransom for release of abducted Zamfara children
In Wanzamai village, Zamfara State, kidnappers are requesting N30 million in ransom before releasing the women and children they have taken.
According to DAILY POST, on Thursday, gunmen kidnapped over 100 people from farms in the states of Zamfara and Katsina.
According to a source, over 80 children were abducted in Wanzamai village in Zamfara State's Tsafe Local Government Area.
More than 20 additional residents in nearby villages were kidnapped.
He went on to say that the kidnappers had called the relatives of certain victims and demanded N60m before the kids could be freed.
He added, “Negotiations have started in earnest and the kidnappers have reduced the ransom to N30 million. They asked the families of the victims to go and raise the money.â€
The police command's spokesman, CSP Muhammad Shehu, stated that Mr. Kolo Yusuf, the commissioner of police, had assured the public, particularly the families of the victims, that the command was working with the military and vigilantes to try and rescue the victims alive and return them to their families.
