Bandits kidnap over 100 persons in Zamfara
Over a hundred people are said to have been kidnapped by bandits during an attack on the Mutunji community in Zamfara state's Maru LGA.
It was reported that the community was attacked by the bandits on Friday night during the Isha prayers.
The community's residents were given a one-week ultimatum by a bandit kingpin known as Damina to pay a levy of N50 million for their safety, which is allegedly when the attack occurred.
It was claimed that the abduction was caused by the residents' inability to fulfil the deadline and provide the requested amount.
According to reports, there were no fatalities during the event.
Yazid Abubakar, the Zamfara police command spokesperson, was not available for comment at the time this report was filed.
