Bandits kidnap two Gusau university students
Once more, bandits kidnapped two students from the Federal University of Gusau in Zamfara State late on Saturday night.
According to a witness statement, the two students—a male and a female—were kidnapped around 9 p.m. from an off-campus accommodation in Gusau's Sabon Garin Damba neighbourhood, a few kilometres from the university's main campus.
According to the eyewitness, security guards fired multiple rounds in an effort to scare the thieves away, but they (the bandits) were ultimately successful in stealing the two pupils.
Residents said that the bandits stormed the neighbourhood shortly after 8 p.m., firing their rifles randomly to terrify the locals. Security guards fired many rounds in an effort to fend off the invaders, but the thieves were able to kidnap the two students.
Another resident told Channels TV that a joint team of police and military personnel was pursuing the bandits but asked to remain anonymous out of worry for their safety.
Calls to ASP Yazid Abubakar, the state police command's spokesperson, were unsuccessful because he was unable to answer them.
