Benue judiciary workers suspend indefinite strike

On Tuesday, the Benue State branch of the Executive Council of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria terminated its indefinite strike.

This was stated in a memo sent to the state's High Court chief registrar, directors in the Ministry of Justice, and judicial personnel on Tuesday in Makurdi, the state capital, and signed by JUSUN Chairman Mr. Terlumun Aba.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the state chapter of the union went on indefinite strike on December 6, 2024, because the new minimum wage had not been implemented.

Furthermore, according to NAN, JUSUN rejected the new minimum salary of N75,000 for all workers that Governor Hyacinth Alia approved and implemented in the final quarter of 2024.

The document states that the national headquarters has authorised the suspension of the Benue branch's ongoing industrial action.

”The suspension became necessary following a positive response from the Benue State Government towards our demands.

”In regard to the above, the Chairman, Comrade Aba Terlumun, has directed all staff of the Benue State Judiciary to cease any further escalation of the strike and, as a matter of urgency, resume work tomorrow (Wednesday), April 23, 2025.?

“Your cooperation during the strike period is highly appreciated,” the statement read.
