Binance executive Nadeem Anjarwalla arrested in Kenya
Nadeem Anjarwalla, the regional manager for Africa for Binance, has allegedly been taken into custody by the Kenya Police Service.
According to Punch, Anjarwalla's extradition to Nigeria is a goal of Interpol, the international criminal police body, which is expected to happen this week.
Anjarwalla and his colleague Tigran Gambaryan were being held by the federal government in an Abuja guest house until their escape on March 22.
Guards reportedly led Anjarwalla to a neighbouring mosque for prayers in keeping with the Ramadan fast, which allowed him to escape.
It was reported that the regional manager for Binance left Nigeria using a Kenyan passport. The federal authorities accused Anjarwalla and Gambaryan of tax evasion and money laundering.
Both of them were taken into custody on February 28.
“Binance executive, Nadeem Anjarwalla, has been arrested by the Kenya Police Service, and he would be extradited to Nigeria this week by INTERPOL,” one source was quoted as saying.
After appearing in court, Gambaryan, the chief of financial crime compliance for Binance, is presently being held by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
