Bobrisky convicted for naira abuse, pleads guilty
Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, is a controversial cross-dresser who was found guilty of abusing Naira by the Federal High Court in Lagos on Friday.
Judge Abimbola Awogboro found him guilty after reviewing the case's circumstances.
Bobrisky said in his allocution before the court that he was ignorant of the legislation regarding naira abuse. He claimed to have more than five million followers on social media.
The judge then informed him that not knowing the law did not qualify as an excuse.
He said, “I know, My Lord. My Lord, I wish that you could give me a second chance to use my platform to inform and educate my followers about spraying money.
“I would do a video on my page and I will educate people about spraying money.
“I will not repeat it again. I regret my actions.”
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had filed four charges of naira abuse against Bobrisky, which led to his arraignment earlier. The transvestite, who goes by "Mummy of Lagos," entered a guilty plea to the allegations.
