BoT forms committee to resolve dispute between Wike and Atiku

The Board of Trustees (BoT) has formed a committee of all members in an effort to mediate disputes between Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, and Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP(PDP) )'s 2023 presidential candidate and former vice president.

Recall that since the party's primaries and the announcement of Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as the presidential candidate's running mate, Atiku and Wike's camp have been at odds.

Former lawmaker Senator Abdul Ningi told reporters after the BoT meeting in Abuja, which lasted for almost 4 hours, that the committee is supposed to mediate between the opposing camps.

"We have established a committee of the BoT in this meeting to be able to interface between warring factions, notably the acrimony that is taking place between the presidential candidate and Governor Wike," he said.

According to Ningi, the committee is also expected to resolve other disputes that are raging around the party.

Every other member of the BoT is a member of the committee because it is the committee of the entire. I am unable to inform you about the complaints and the timeline, he said.

Regarding if the BoT meeting covered the demand for Senator Iyorchia Ayu, the PDP National Chairman, to quit, Ningi said: “we have not even discussed any issue of anybody stepping down. What we discussed is what I told you”.
