Buhari leaves for Saudi Arabia on eight-day visit
On Tuesday (this morning), Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret.) will leave for an eight-day state visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he will likely perform the minor pilgrimage known as Umrah.
“Buhari will travel to Saudi Arabia on an official visit from Tuesday, April 11 to 19 on his last trip to the Kingdom as President, during which he will perform Umrah, the lesser pilgrimage,†a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, read on Monday evening.
In the statement titled “President Buhari leaves for Saudi Arabia on an official visit,†Shehu said the President would be accompanied by his aides.
His sixth and final trip to the Kingdom since taking office in May 2015 is this one.
In his time as president, Buhari has been to about 40 nations on over 90 occasions, spending the majority of his time in the United States, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and France.
He made three trips to the United Arab Emirates, Ghana, Niger, and Senegal in addition to his five trips to Ethiopia.
China, Germany, Benin, the Gambia, Kenya, Equatorial Guinea, Egypt, Mali, and Chad are among the nations he has travelled to at least twice.
