Buhari promises to assist and consider Burundi's request for fuel
According to President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria will assist the Republic of Burundi in a variety of ways as needed. He claims that this will be done in the spirit of African unity and brotherhood.
The president made this statement on Tuesday at State House in Abuja when he welcomed President Evariste Ndayishimiye's Special Envoy, who had come with a message.
Burundi's Minister of Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning, Mr. Audace Niyonzima, said his President wished Nigerians and President Buhari a happy new year.
Additionally, he sent his best wishes for the nation's upcoming general elections in February and March.
“We pray that the polls would be peaceful and successful so that Nigeria would maintain her reputation as a bastion of peace and stability,†the Special Envoy said.
In response to the Burundian leader's request for assistance with energy provision, particularly petrol, President Buhari said he understands how it feels for a nation to experience an energy scarcity.
As a result, he made a commitment to getting the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited to investigate the request.
Buhari stated that since he had completed the two terms of office required by the constitution, he was looking forward to the elections and retiring.
