Car crashes into New York City restaurant, leaves 22 injured
22 people were hurt after a sport utility vehicle was rear-ended and slammed into a restaurant in New York City by a hit-and-run driver, authorities said on Tuesday.
According to a police spokesperson, the collision occurred in upper Manhattan Monday night at 9 p.m.
After leaving a gas station, a white Audi struck the rear of a Toyota sport utility vehicle, causing the driver of the SUV to lose control, according to the police. According to authorities, the SUV jumped the curb and struck the Inwood Bar and Grill's front window.
Police reported that a total of 22 persons were hurt in the crash, primarily by flying glass. Three people chose not to receive medical care, leaving 19 transported to hospitals. None of the injuries, according to police, were life-threatening.
The driver of the Audi escaped the scene and was wanted on Tuesday.
