China launches new space science satellites
From the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in northwest China, China successfully launched new space science satellites on Sunday, including Macao's first space exploration satellite project, Macao Science 1.
The satellites were successfully launched by a Long March-2C carrier rocket from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in northwest China at 4:00 p.m. (Beijing Time), according to the China National Space Administration (CNSA).
The first space science satellite programme jointly created by Macao and the Chinese mainland is called Macao Science 1, according to the CNSA. As the first satellite for scientific exploration that has been put into a nearly equatorial orbit to observe the geomagnetic field and the space environment, the project also aims to advance science.
It was the Long March carrier rocket's 474th flight mission overall. At the same time, a scientific experiment satellite called Luojia-2 was launched into orbit.
