Container falls on vehicles in Lagos, leaves many injured

At the time of writing, it is unknown how many people were injured in the incident.

Unknown travellers perished after a 40-foot container crashed on moving vehicles near the Cele bus stop on the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway in Lagos State.

On December 22, 2022, one of the well-known yellow commercial buses and a few cars were engaged in the event.

According to reports, the yellow bus's driver was found dead right away, but two other passengers managed to flee.

According to The Punch's anonymous source, roughly five passengers from the bus that the container fell on were taken to the hospital where it was determined they had passed away.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the event and stated that the collision happened on the main lane of the PM gas station inward Cele express.

According to LASTMA, the incident “involved an upturned 40ft container on a commercial bus.

“Police officers from Ilasa division are on the ground doing the needful and also effort is on for recovery,” the agency wrote on its official Facebook page on Thursday.

The number of casualties reported in the incident, however, was not made public by the agency.

According to Pulse, incidents of containers falling on automobiles have increased often in the commercial capital of Nigeria.

Recall that the several containers that have fallen off the well-known Ojuelegba bridge have earned it a reputation as a death trap.

Petrol tankers or containerized trailers flying off the bridge and killing other drivers are frequent causes of vehicle accidents on the bridge.
