Court adjourns FG vs ASSU's case once more
The Federal Government's lawsuit contesting the current university lecturers' strike has been postponed once more by the National Industrial Court until September 19 by the court.
As you may recall, the court had ordered the Federal Government (FG) and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to appear before it on Monday in Abuja about the seven-month strike.
However, Justice Polycap Hamman postponed the case until today, Friday, September 16, during the first hearing so that both sides could file the required court documents.
However, the court further postponed the case until Monday of the following week at the Friday resumed meeting.
James Igwe, the FG's attorney, had earlier asked the court to expedite the case's hearing since it was crucial that the students get back to school.
Igwe informed the court that since the matter was already before the court, it would be appropriate to halt the strike while the lawsuit was being adjudicated.
