Court grants Dele Farotimi N30m bail
The besieged lawyer and human rights activist Dele Farotimi has been granted N30 million bail by a magistrates' court in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State.
Farotimi's bail plea was granted by Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun during the bail hearing on Friday.
"The bail conditions required Farotimi to surrender his international passport to the court and included two responsible sureties," the magistrate stated.
To support his ruling, the magistrate used section 9 of the Magistrate's Courts Law 2014. The activist has entered a not guilty plea to the allegation of slander.
