Court remands man for sexually assaulting 16-year-old girl
Ishaya Madaki, 25, was remanded in the Kirikiri Correctional Facility on Tuesday by an Ikeja Magistrate's Court in the Ogba district of Lagos State for allegedly engaging in forcible sexual activity with a teenager in the state's Iyana Iba region.
Following the defendant's arraignment, magistrate Mrs. E. Kubenje issued the order. The defendant is accused of one count of rape that has been filed against him by the police.
Olakunle Orebe, a police officer, said before the court that the defendant committed the crime between September and October of 2022 and had forcibly had sex with the 16-year-old girl without her consent.
The prosecution claims that the offense committed is criminal in accordance with Section 137 of the Lagos State Criminal Code from 2015.
The charge read, “That you, Ishaya Madaki, between September and October 2022 around 10 am at RS 139 Post Service Housing Estate, Iyana Iba, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did forcefully have sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old girl and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
Judge Mrs. E. Kubenje refused to accept the defendant's plea.
The matter was continued for mention until April 18, 2023.
