Two individuals, Ayomide Sambo and Johnson Adeleke, have been placed on remand by an Ondo State Chief Magistrate's Court in Akure, the state capital, for the suspected murder of a navy officer named Samson Akingbagbohun.

After an argument, the officer was allegedly killed at Ido Ani in the state's Ose Local Government Area. The accused were then detained by men from the state police command.

They were then charged with two charges of conspiracy and murder in court.

The Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State, Nigeria 2006, sections 319, 316, and 342 were violated, according to the prosecution.

Inspector Nelson Akintimehin, the police prosecutor, stated to the court that the offences were committed on June 26, 2023, around 7:40 p.m. by the defendants and those still at large.

In order for him to send their case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions, he pleaded with the court to confine the prisoners in Olokuta Custodial Centre.

Tolulope Adebiyi, the defence attorney, nevertheless asked the judge to release her clients on bond.

The two suspects were remanded when the Chief Magistrate, Musa Al-Yunus, made his decision.

Francis Shagari, a third defendant, was granted bail in the amount of N500,000 with two additional sureties in the same amount by the court.

The matter was continued for mention until August 1, 2023.
