Court sentences Canadian woman to 11 years imprisonment for drug trafficking
A 41-year-old Canadian woman named Adrienne Munju was found guilty and sentenced by Justice Dehinde Dipeolu of the Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday to 11 years in jail or a N50 million fine for allegedly bringing 35.20 kilogrammes of Canadian Loud (Cannabis Sativa) into Nigeria.
After Muju entered a guilty plea to the two charges brought against her by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, or NDLEA, the trial judge found her guilty and sentenced her to a period of incarceration.
The charge alleges that Adrienne Munju unlawfully imported 35.20 kilogrammes of Cannabis Sativa, also known as "Canadian Loud," on or around October 3, 2024, while she was clearing inbound passengers on a KLM flight at the "D" Arrival Hall of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.
