Court sentences Lagos pastor Feyi Daniels to life imprisonment for raping church member
Feyi Daniels, the founder of iReign Christian Ministry, was sentenced to life in prison on Friday by an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence court for "raping a church member."
Rahman Oshodi, the trial judge, found the preacher from Lagos guilty of sexually assaulting and raping a female worshipper.
According to The PUNCH, the Bishop testified in his own defence, saying he thought three of the four women who accused him of sexually abusing them were plotting to turn against him.
The chief prosecutor for the prosecution, Babajide Boye, attempted to prove that Bishop Daniels, the defendant, had a "personal relationship" with the four women when taking questions during cross-examination.
Boye said that the defendant had paid a third woman's school fees, counselled one of the women, provided another N100,000 for hospital treatment, and had a relationship with a fourth woman as a leader of the campus fellowship connected to his ministry at Akungba-Akobo in Ondo State.
But the Bishop denied giving money to one of the women for treatment. He said, “I believe all three ladies turned against me, but not (name withheld) because she later apologised to me.â€
