Dangote Cement Plc appoints Arvind Pathak as company's CEO
Arvind Pathak has been appointed as Dangote Cement Plc's new chief executive and managing director, the business announced in a notice posted on the website of the Nigerian Exchange on Thursday.
Mr. Pathak will succeed Michel Puchercos, a Frenchman who will leave the cement manufacturer at the end of February after three years in charge.
According to the declaration, the new CEO will start serving on March 1.
Before becoming the chief operating officer and deputy managing director of Dangote Cement, Mr. Pathak served as the CEO of India's Birla Corporation, a manufacturer of cement. His more than 30 years of experience include business transformation, leading significant greenfield projects, managing operations, and plant maintenance. He most recently held the position of regional CEO at Mumbai-based Associated Cement Company Limited.
The newly appointed CEO graduated with a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Roorkee, which is now known as IIT Roorkee, in 1980, and with a postgraduate degree in industrial engineering and management from the same institution in 1982.
“The appointment of Mr Arvind Pathak will be included in the Agenda at the next Annual General Meeting for ratification by the shareholders in accordance with the Companies and Allied Matters Actâ€, Dangote Cement said.
