Deji Adeyanju supports prolonged ASSU strike

Deji Adeyanju, a rights activist and convener of Concerned Nigerians, reiterated his support for the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

In a message sent on Monday via his Twitter account, Adeyanju urged ASUU to maintain its strike action until the federal government complies with all of their demands.

The activist also exhorted the university professors to resist any intimidation from the authorities.

“ASUU has my 100% support to continue the strike. They should resist the bullying and tyranny of the Govt. If our public university educational system was working, many of us would not be paying millions in private universities and neither would politicians’ kids be going abroad. Aluta Continua!”

According to Vanguard, the ASUU strike, which started on February 14, 2022, has already lasted for almost seven months.

To decide whether to end or continue the strike, the National Executive Council of ASUU is scheduled to convene on Sunday, August 28, 2022.

It was discovered that the union's NEC meeting would take place at the University of Abuja, which serves as the union's national headquarters.
