Prince Daniel Afamefune Chukwujindu, a 23-year-old microbiology undergraduate at Delta State University, DELSU, Abraka, has become the 11th Ajeh of Ekwuoma Kingdom in Delta State's Ika North East Local Government Area.

Following the completion of the late monarch's funeral rites, Prince Daniel, who will succeed his late father, King Chinedu Samuel Chukwujindu, Ezeagu-Ukpo I, was formally enthroned yesterday. The late monarch passed away on June 2, 2026.

His rise was in line with Ekwuoma's long-standing primogeniture custom, which states that a reigning monarch's eldest son succeeds his father.

Speaking upon his coronation as Ezeagu-Ukpo II, the new Ajeh thanked the populace for their faith in him and promised to preserve the kingdom's traditions.

“I appreciate the people of Ekwuoma for their confidence and support. I pledge to uphold the customs and traditions of our kingdom and promote peace, unity and development,” he said.

The youthful ruler urged the populace to support the established institution and help the country grow.

“I call on all sons and daughters of Ekwuoma to unite behind the traditional institution. We must work collectively towards building a stronger and more prosperous community,” he said.

He emphasised that in order to address the problems facing the kingdom, the people, government, and traditional institutions must work together.
