DJ remanded for disturbing Islamiyya school in Kano
Ali Dan-Asabe, a DJ, was placed in detention by a Kano State Sharia court in Dambare in the Ungogo LGA for interfering with classes and other activities in an Islamiyya school.
Following a complaint from the school's administration that Dan-Asabe's actions were causing disruptions to students with loud music while they were in class, the police were called to bring him before the court.
Inspector Bashir Wada, the prosecutor, said the court that the defendant was accused of playing music so loudly that it prevented kids from hearing what their lecturers were saying.
Additionally, he was charged with violating state traditions and conventions by playing music.
The prosecutor further said, “When they complained to him, the DJ said he would not reduce and he decided to increase the volume.
The accused admitted guilt to the allegations.
After directing his remand, the judge, Munzali Idris Gwadabe, postponed the case till July 6 for sanctions.
