Local authorities reported that late on Saturday, Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) members entered Kyamata in the Ituri province and used machetes to slaughter residents there.
Over 30 homes were set on fire.
During a ceremony on Sunday, the victims were interred in a single grave.
The lack of soldiers in the area was blamed by locals for the attack.
One of the several rebel organisations operating in eastern Congo is the ADF.
A year ago, the Ugandan military attacked the ADF, but the attacks have since persisted.
